Prior to our wedding, we gave Roots and Groove a list of songs that represented the wide range of music styles that we were looking for to please all of our guests. After they had a chance to review the list, we had the opportunity to meet with them at their studio to sample some of what Roots and Groove had in mind for our wedding, based on the vibe we wanted to set for our event.

After that meeting, we knew we had made a great choice for our DJ. They seemed to know exactly what we were looking for, and even introduced some new tunes to our music collection. The day of the event the vibe was perfect: very chill and fresh, while still getting everyone on their feet. Roots and Groove were able to get people’s heads bobbin’ during dinner which led to a crowded dance floor throughout the rest of the evening. And NOBODY was doing the chicken dance!

We were planning a low-key wedding in a short period of time and amidst all of the numerous details, music somehow got put on the back burner. Luckily, Roots and Groove came highly recommended to us from a friend who had used their services and had wonderful things to say about them. From the moment that we spoke with them, they immediately stood out among the other DJs that we had spoken to. We knew they weren’t the run-of-the-mill DJs with canned playlists. They were very responsive and open-minded to helping create the right feel for our special day. We knew we had chosen the right guys when Adam met us at our outdoor venue on perhaps one of the hottest days of the summer to happily and patiently help us plan the logistics of the setup and day.

Roots and Groove made the whole experience really fun and with their professionalism and enthusiasm, we knew we could count on them. On the day of our wedding, we had some unexpected last minute set up changes, but not to fear, Roots and Groove easily came up with creative solutions. And with their great attention to detail and musical timing, they were able to work with our nontraditional processional piece so that that I walked in at just the right time.

We got a lot of compliments from our friends and family about the great music. There were many different music tastes among the guests, and somehow Adam and John were able to put together an incredible selection that made sense and sounded great together.

These guys are awesome - they really love music and know it well, not to mention that they are really down-to-earth nice people. It was so much fun working with them and we wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again and to recommend them to our friends.

Philadelphia Theatre Co.

Roots and Groove DJ Services has totally revolutionized the post-show parties and image of the Philadelphia Theatre Company's Young Patrons Group. Since every party has a different theme that is predicated on the play of that month, John & Adam are able to meld and define whatever theme, mood, setting, and ambience we want to create and evoke for our events. They provide our total entertainment needs from lighting to sounds, and we don't know where we would be without them. Thank you, Roots and Groove, for all that you do for the Philadelphia Theatre Company's NEXT group ! We look forward to years of continued collaboration and success ! Bravo !

We took great pains to make sure that our wedding was not cookie cutter. Since I'm a big music fan, that included making sure the music was what we wanted. We didn't want line dances and cheesy music, but we did want a vibe and people on the dance floor. This took skill - most DJs don't know how to get people up and moving without relying on the tried and true. Adam and John had the skill to make sure people danced the entire night without reverting to the Chicken Dance or the Electric Slide. They were also awesome to deal with and got what we wanted right away.

I would recommend them wholeheartedly. (That is if you want a cool wedding DJ - otherwise choose someone else).

We first heard Roots and Groove at one of the Philadelphia Theater Company parties and we were entranced by their music! We were so impressed that we introduced them to our friends who were looking for a dj for their wedding. Our friends gave them a list of their favorite dance music and, once again, Roots and Groove mixed it down and worked the crowd into a dancing frenzy! What was particularly exciting about their dj’ing was that each of our friends liked very different styles and eras of music. Roots and Groove didn’t skip a beat in satisfying both of their tastes. There was something for us all! They will definitely be our first choice for our next dj’d event!

We held an outdoor informal wedding and we were looking for a DJ who would play songs that represented our musical tastes (ours happens to be indie music) and avoid any overplayed awful wedding songs. We gave Adam a list of bands we liked and he provided hours of songs that we loved and totally fit the mood and the event. He played the processional songs we requested right on cue. Having music we liked was so important to us and it made the whole reception really perfect. I can't count how many people told us during and after that it was the best wedding music ever. It was so nice to not have to worry about the music side of things as he took care of everything. I would highly recommend him for any occasion. They were very professional but laid back and flexible. He made a great day even better. I can't say enough good things or thank him enough.

I wanted to thank both of you for making my 40th birthday party exactly what I wanted it to be. The music you provided was the exact vibe I was hoping to have. Everyone loved the music, and I haven’t had that much fun dancing in years! I was also really impressed with your professionalism. I knew the party was in good hands and it was a bonus that the both of you were really nice guys.

Thanks again for everything, and I’m looking for another excuse to have a party so we can bring you back before my 50th.

The Corsons

The morning after our wedding, as my wife and I flew toward our honeymoon destination, we discussed the many aspects of our day we thought of as the best part. At the top of this list was the music. While we spoke of our extreme satisfaction with Adam and John for ourselves, we also mentioned to each other how this love of the DJ spread from our five year old guests to my eighty year old grandparents. Adam and John managed to find something that excited and pleased everyone attending our very ecclectic wedding day.Given only a few songs and who planned on attending our wedding, John and Adam compiled a playlist of romantic slow songs, crowd pleasing tracks, and obscure pop songs that brought all of us onto the dance floor.

On the personal and business end, they were equally helpful. When my wife and her dad couldn't quite pick out the perfect song Adam suggested a cover of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and What A Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole that they ended up using. Also, as the week of the wedding approached I must have emailed Adam twenty times telling him to take this Flaming Lips track off or adding this Kanye West song. Throughout the process he stayed on top of our requests and somehow maintained a great sense of cheefulness and enthusiasm.

So. To anyone looking for a DJ for anything wedding, event, etc. related, go with these guys 100%. They are always excited to work with you and they always listen to your taste and ideas and creatively build on what you want, creating the perfectly soundtracked evening.
